Young Traditional Musician Award 2015

The annual celebration of the incredible young talent in traditional music all across Scotland is once again returning for another year of BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award.

The foremost award for young musicians playing traditional music in Scotland has seen many of it’s previous winners go on to enjoy successful careers in the world of traditional music, both in Scotland and on a worldwide scale. The final of the prestigious annual event takes place each year at the hugely popular international Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow. This renowned global stage for young musicians is often enough to kickstart their careers in the industry and has been known to birth the next big star in the traditional music scene.

Applications for the award close Friday 3 July 2015.

How To Apply. 
Entrants (aged 16–27 inclusive) must complete an application form and send us a 10-minute recording of your playing, a short biography and paragraph explaining why you want to play traditional music. Accompanists entering the award, eg guitarists or percussionists, may have a lead instrument on their recording. An adjudication panel will choose 12 semi-finalists based on their ability. All semi-finalists will be notified during the week beginning Monday 17th August 2015.
