TRADtv caught up with Croft No.5 original members Paul Jennings (Drums) and Somhairle MacDonald (Bass & Percussion) fresh from their brilliantly bouncing main stage headline performance at @TheReelingFest The Reeling Festival 2024.
Founded in 1998 (with an almost 20 year long haitus inbetween) one of Scotland’s most celebrated and influential folk fusion acts, Croft No.5, make their highly anticipated return to the scene, headlining this vibrant new Scottish folk festival in Glasgow’s Rouken Glen Park at The Reeling 2024. The band released two seminal albums in the early 2000s, ‘Attention All Personnel’ (2001) and ‘Talk of the Future’ (2005) solidifying their unique brand of Scottish world music / Celtic fusion in the global music scene. Each of the members has since gone on to achieve individual success in the contemporary trad music scene, collaborating with all varieties of bands and performers. Now coming back together, this re-formed Scottish supergroup features 8 members – John Somerville (Accordion), Duncan Lyall (Bass & Synths), Barry “Spad” Reid (Guitars), Paul Jennings (Drums), Somhairle MacDonald (Bass & Percussion), Misha Somerville (Whistles), Adam Sutherland (Fiddle) and Innes Watson (Fiddle & Vocals).
