Talented young up and coming Australian bagpiper and composer Bede Patterson featured at Glasgow’s 2024 Piping Live! Festival, launching his unique and innovative new music venture ‘The Nexus Project’ at one of the city’s most legendary venues ‘Nice N Sleazy’ on Sauchiehall Street. TRADtv caught up with the inspired musician for a wee chat and filmed some of this very special festival gig ahead of his competing in the World Pipe Band Championships 2024 on Glasgow Green.
An innovative exploration of contemporary and ancient Highland Bagpipe music through original compositions and arrangements by Bede Patterson. The Nexus Project surveys the inextricable links between early and modern bagpipe performance and repertoire. This collaborative work features the creative and experimental contributions of Bede Patterson (bagpipes), Dean Garrity (soprano saxophone), and Ewan Johnston (piano).
