In collaboration with TRADtv the @MaketCollective hosted their first piping Recital Series in April 2026 at the @nationalpipingcentre. The recital featured 5 incredible female pipers, had a live audience and was hosted by Hannah Rarity, a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, celebrated for her exceptional voice & dynamic musical presence.
Sarah is from Campbeltown, Argyll and now lives in East Kilbride with her partner, Steven. She began piping at age 10 and studied under Ian McKerral, followed by Jim Henderson, Stuart Samson, and Glenn Brown. She has been taught for over 15 years by Willie McCallum and graduated in 2013 with a BA (Hons) in Scottish Music – Piping. She now works as an educator within the Fife Council region, teaching the next generation of pipers.
She has built a highly successful solo career, winning major prizes including the A Grade MSR at the Northern Meeting (2025), MSR at the Uist & Barra Invitational (2024, 2020), and the Dunvegan Medal at the Skye Highland Games (2019), as well as the Pipe-Major’s Wheel of Fortune Invitational Solo Competition (2025). In pipe bands, she has performed with Kintyre Schools Pipe Band, Inveraray & District Pipe Band, and Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band, winning the World Pipe Band Championships in 2015.
