Founded in 1883 as the Burgh of Govan Police Pipe Band and now representing Glasgow as Police Scotland & Federation Pipe Band, one of Scotland’s leading Grade One competitors in the World Pipe Band Championships 2026 take to the centre stage on Glasgow Green, led to the line by Pipe Major Duncan Nicholson to perform their Medley set to an enthralled international audience.
The World Pipe Band Championships are the pinnacle of global pipe band competition. In 2026, 211 bands representing 14 countries brought thousands of pipers and drummers to Glasgow Green, with 35,000 spectators attending across two days. The event is delivered by Glasgow Life on behalf of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, with support from VisitScotland.
