In collaboration with TRADtv, the @MaketCollective hosted their first piping Recital Series at the @nationalpipingcentre in April 2026. The recital featured 5 incredible female pipers, had a live audience and was hosted by Hannah Rarity, a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, celebrated for her exceptional voice & dynamic musical presence.
Hazel began her musical journey at age seven in South Lanarkshire. She graduated with First Class Honours in Traditional Music (Piping) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2024 and has since completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Music). She now works as a Music Teacher in South Lanarkshire and as a tutor with the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band. Hazel is also a member of the Royal Burgh of Annan Pipe Band and competes regularly in Open solo events under the guidance of Willie McCallum.
Hazel was a member of the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band, winning two World Pipe Band Championships titles, and performed with the NYPBS. She has also performed at major national and international events, such as performing the National Anthem at Hampden Park, global productions with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Pipes and Drums, Piping Live!, the Tartan Day Parade in New York, and for the HRH The King’s Scottish Coronation and for the late HM Queen Elizabeth II.
